And

it's

gone!

I guess we were hungry.

We found ourselves on the "Bourbon Trail" in Kentucky.

Our one and only stop was the Maker's Mark distillery near Loreto, KY. So much bourbon...so little time.

Dinner at Cochon, in the warehouse district.

I had the Oyster and Bacon sandwich, Zac had Louisiana Cochon with Turnips, Cabbage, and Cracklins.

Time to sample a local favorite.

A specialty from the lower Mississippi River tidal basin- teeming with all the essential minerals and nutrients. Bottoms up?

A treat at Cafe du Monde.

Coffee and Beignets.

We had lunch at Napoleon's, in the French Quarter.

Dinner at the original Rudy's BBQ in Leon Springs.

Jackpot. Smoked brisket, smoked sausage, and smoked baby back ribs, with all the sides. Believe it or not, it's all served out of a gas station/market.

San Antonio included a tour of the "Mission Trail".

We visited the lesser known, but more beautiful Spanish missions of San Antonio.

What trip through Waco would be complete without a stop at Viteks.

The famous Gutpak. A bed of Fritos topped with shredded cheese, sausage, BBQ beef, and baked beans. Onions, pickles, and jalapenos on the side with two slices of bread.

Zac discovers the best reason to move to Texas.

A selection of rare and exotic salts. Some from as far away as a river in Australia.

We had dinner in Paris, Texas.

I had three cheese scalloped potatoes at a little cafe across from Gard de Lyon.

Arkansas- the state that's so hard to forget...because it's so hard to remember.

Arkansas did what was thought to be impossible- it made Ohio seem interesting.

We passed through Little Rock, Arkansas, and had lunch at the Flying Fish.

The fried chicken livers, fried oysters, French fries, and hushpuppies were great. (it was a theme lunch)

In St. Louis Zac and I watched the dramatic ending of the Tiger season.

There's nothing more exciting than watching your team going down in flames in another city's sports bar.
